Ang maitim ay maputi na
Ang bakod ay lagas na.

(Two has become three;
black has become white;
the fence has already fallen.)

Pari ma't arsobispo
napapagalaw ang ulo.

(Priests' and archbishops'
head are under his control.)

Kulang sa pito
Labis na walo.

(He's less than seven,
and more than eight.)

Pag malayo ay bata,
pag malapit ay matanda.

(From afar, a child;
but near, an old man.)

Humangin, at umaraw,
daladala'y balutan.

(In windy or sunny weather,
he always carries his bundle.)

Sariling-sarili mo na
Ginagamit pa ng iba
Kahit walang pahintulot ka.

(It is your very own, yet,
others use it
without your permission.)

Kain ng kain, hindi marunong mabusog

(It eats and eats, but never gets full)
